Kowari Motors Townsville closing down.

Hi All,

Spent a few hours today talking to Terry Bolger at Kowari Motors, Terry is closing business and has on offer several (two container loads) of Cummins 4B plus a couple of 4BT complete with intercooler prices vary depending on requirements.

Terry also has 16 or so New Spicer 5 speed Gear Boxes $ 3,700 ea.

16 or so Dana 70 Series rear Diffs (New) Complete disc to disc to suit OKA for $ 3,700.00

16 or so Dana 60 series front diffs (New) Complete disc to Disc to suit OKA for $ 3,700.00.

Not much information about the Kowari on the net.
Does anyone know if these gearboxes and axles are a straight swap in an Oka or are there mods to do?

Also, what transfer case did the Kowari use?

Hi Peter,

Terry from Kowari informed me that the Dana diffs are original OKA replacement, they were a cancelled order produced by Dana for OKA, I’m not sure if the diffs are standard spline or heavy duty splined.

The Gearboxes are Spicer 5 speed identical same as OKA.

Both diffs and gearboxes fit straight in the OKA with no modification, I did notice on the Dana 70 diffs they were fitted with double shockie mounts

I’m not sure about the Transfer cases; I’ll give Terry a call on Monday and get back to you.

Kowari Motors use Toyota 4 or 5 speed gearboxes and Toyota transfers against a Cummins 4bt. The Dana Diffs are shortened on the long tube side, the diff gears are changed to a lower ratio; Chassis are manufactured from rectangular hollow section. Suspensions is combination or springs with air bag.

Peter, give Kowari a call, not sure of pricing, I grabbed a short block 4B with starter, fly wheel and SAE 3 gearbox housing for $ 500.00 and I think terry mentioned complete 4bt with intercooler for about $ 3,000.00.
