Ewart, slightly tricky, this one.
Avatars were supposed to be picked up from the old website but that doesn't seem to happen consistently.
If you click on Profile in the Forum menu, or on your generic avatar/Preferences, and then on Edit, there is an Avatar Image menu item but it comes up blank.
Strange. However if you click on Community and then Profile/Edit Profile, there is a Change Avatar menu item which allows you to change, upload or edit your avatar image.
This is probably to do with integration of the JomSocial community and Kunena forum functions.
