Dear OKA friends,

my wife finished editing a video of our trip - OKA in Africa 2016, this time it is narrated in English. Maybe some of you enjoy the video.
I dedicate this video to David Ribbans, who was supporting me with his OKA posts and personal technical advice to keep our OKA up and running.

Merry christmas

Thank you and best regards

Well that was a thoroughly great, and it is was a nice 1/2 hour spent viewing it.
(Maybe tell Anja that it is pronounced "Ah-Ka" rather than "Oh-Ka"... ;) )

I could, not find part 2.... but I am eager to see it, and the countryside looks similar to here if you remove the wildlife and water.
When you release it, please, please, post the URL.

(The duct tape on the ripped tent adds character... nice move!)

David was a gem of a fellow... so the dedication I think is a very fitting homage to his care and help to us all. It warms my heart to see that.

A very Merry Christmas to you and Anja from the centre of Australia.
Give bell if you are ever headed our way, and you make me eager (or maybe us both) for a trip to Afrika.

XO,
Randal & Jo

Thanks for your feedback enjoying the video "OKA in Africa 2016 - Part 1". Part 2 will be hopefully made soon by my wife, your credits will hopefully encourage her since these videos take a long time to edit.
There are actually more OKA videos, although mostly in German language. So the pronunciation of the OKA will be even worse.
Other videos are accessible via the webpage www.boteti.de - the password is Kalahari.

Happy new year

Thank you and best regards

O.i.A. Those photo's and vidio's are great from the first, they all tell a story on their own and personally I dont care how the words are pronounced although English is better than German.
Tell your wife to keep them coming.

100% agree Martyn.

I plotted through all of them last night.
Such a nice soothing voice, but I suspect that it raises in the usual fashion when running tent into a branch?

Great stuff, really enjoyed looking at the scenery and pics of the country and roads, very similar to Oz in many respects, even saw what we call a plains turkey or bustard.

Hello fellow OKA owners,

About a year back I finished my "OKA conversion project". I have not done a major trip yet and do not know, how I will enjoy the new style.

Removal of old tray:

Moving the new alu cabin:

Cutting the existing cabin:

Adding compartments and hatches:

New bed area:

New alu cabin:

On the drive to a hike in the Kruger National Park, I was rewarded with this great bull inspecting the OKA:

I am looking forward to do the next trip through the African bush with the new cabin.
All the best

Thank you and best regards

Well done on the new setup! Probably a bit safer than the old rooftop tent in Africa too?!

You're lucky that 'great bull' isn't like the cattle here and use vehicles (or anything really) as a scratching post, don't think the duco would last long against that rump!

Hello,
your encouraging words seemed to have worked!

Anja is currently working on the next episode of "OKA in Africa 2016 - Part II" in English language.
Some of you might not know about our website www.boteti.de (password: Kalahari), where there are more OKA in Africa videos to watch.
However, they are all in German language - sorry.

Thank you and best regards

Dear Rick and other OKArians,

all IV (five) parts of "OKA in Africa 2016" are online. If you like them let me know. This might encourage Anja to work on all the video material we have not processed yet.

Reviving our OKA, which was dormant for two years just revealed another one of these furry little eating through parts of my cable boom. I thought, I had closed all the wholes into the OKA but there must be a remaining open hole somewhere.

Thank you and best regards
