Has anyone been able to change their GCM to 9000Kgs?
We have a XT Bus Body converted to a campervan by Oka from factory.
It's GCM is 7000Kgs. Bus weighs fully loaded approx 6000Kgs.
Would like to tow 2500Kgs car trailer.
Your assistance much appreciated.

I did get my XT to 5.7 gvm and 8.2 gcm. I hope to go higher now I’ve upgraded the front to a 70 and an 80 in the rear.

We had our 196XT GVM increased from 5500kg to 6600kg and the GCM increased from 7000kg to 9000kg.
The GCM required mostly calculations on power and torque to ensure that it can start from stationary on a 12% slope and continue to drive on a 20% slope when at GCM.
The GVM require practical brake testing and an assessment that the rest of the vehicle was capable.
It was done by an engineer approved by the SA RTA and a Blue modification plate was issued.

Cheers,
Peter

I did the upgrade before I upgraded the rest. It was already running twin shocks, NT springs and 1" shackle pins.

each stage has it's own regulations, WA rejected the plan for national transport regulations because the other states were too backward & would not rise to WA standards.

you need a WA engeneer to inspect & upgrade your GCM
1" pins, springs, heavy axles tyres engineered shocky mounts etc etc

OKA parts can point you in the right direction with an engeneer who knows what an OKA looks like.

Hi Jo and Al,

I'm keenly interested to see how you progress with your upgrade. I made some enquiries about this earlier too but am yet to start the process.

Can I ask how far you've progressed? Did everyone have to upgrade to NT specs in order to successfully achieve the upgrade?

Alan
