I am fitting the new front springs. There is no castor wedges installed. I spoke to the company who had done the last wheel alignment. They have told me that I dont need to fit them, that they have put a kit into the King Pins??? He didnt explain it any more than that, except telling me not to touch any of it.

So does anyone have modified king pins and not using castor wedges?

David - are you saying we can remove the castor wedges; no other mod necessary, or we can remove them if we have 'modified' king pin bushes/bearings?

Outback Jack - I have found that I needed longer U bolts for the new springs, and that there are 3 different XT RHS spring clamps, and that the top castor wedge is needed to put the driveshaft safety ring in the correct location.

This is interesting.

I have had to shorten the new U bolts for the diff to fit. I also had to elongate the holes to make the studs line up.

I was aware that the there was two different spring clamps, one for 16mm studs and the other for 20mm studs. Not sure on the third one.

I am having problems with the driveshaft safety ring, so this is interesting. I was going to heat it up and straighten it out. I think I have a few wedges some where I will try that.

Your local wheel Align place would be the ones to ask about your OKA on whether caster wedges are required or not, I do not have them and told i do not need them.
As for the King Pins. The actual pin as well as the bush wear and should be replaced on a regular basis. they are a wear point in the steering along with the 4 steering knuckles.

I will get it checked out when I am there next.

Where are you buying the king parts and steering knuckles??

Dose any one know of where i can get the king pin bushess but at an offset as paul cannot supply them it seems that when i go to put the shims in it , it applies so much pressure on the aluminium piece it would destroy it in no time it seems that its a stupid fix

Do you you mean camber wedges not castor as castor wedges is the thread title
Ingalls Engineering has offset kingpins to adjust the camber.

I have put the wedges in and it binds all the locking gear for the 4wd system, applies to much pressure to the outer parts remembering that you are tilting the stub axel and the drive shaft is still straight , replacing the king pin bushess with spc performance parts could be the go, the cost of an new diff housing will be out of my reach at the moment. cheers peter

Lobo, as u know my front springs saged or were wrong leaving the drivers side about 30mm lower than the passengers. When in had the wheel alignment they put a wedge under the left side spring pack to compensate for the tilt and also installed what I think was a camber kit to the drivers side.
Drives really good.

I think the drivers side has wedges from factory, so will be an option.
