No, there had not been any work done on the track for many years before we drove it. 20 years at least, I reckon, maybe longer?outyonda wrote: Thanks Peter, & you fella's had a freshly graded track!!not

Another slide show from 2006 when we explored Carson Station.
It included Striker, and the rest of the Carson Track back to the Kalumburu road, plus the King George Falls, Oomari and south as far as the boundary with Theda Station. We lost the old track there.
More great country, but not as hard as Home Valley to Oombulgurri part.
Broke a spring hanger pin there and had to make a new one from a U bolt I had. Developed the 20mm kit after that.

Carson Station was leased by the Kalumburu Aboriginal Corporation to a cattle mob some time after this, so I am not sure about seperate access there either now. We got permission from an Elder we knew at Kalumburu. We had a second quick trip back in 2007.
Cheers,
Peter

Am with you on that one Joe. We all take our rubbish with us and the only rubbish we see out there is around 'civilisation' communities generally the worst.

David, the R600 is the closest thing to a bulldozer,I spent two months south of Balgo Community shifting a drilling rig for Mobil just the body truck with 16 tons of cement on the tray pulling trailers over the dunes, the most driver unfriendly truck I have ever driven, bitterly cold at night when tired and have to sleep in the truck and stinky hot during the day, absolutely no plastic in the cab.aaahhh those were the days!!!
Cheers,Joe

I asked Kevin half way through the trip if he was going to buy an OKA and he said no and this was going to be his last trip but it looks like by the end he changed his mind.
Good on him
Martyn "its an OKA thing"
