Cando, there was some discussion at this topic. Standard figures for XTs were vehicle maximum 5500kg, and combined maximum 7000kg.

Towing capacity of any Oka is limited by the rating on the towbar. The standard Oka towbar has a 3500kg rating. So first step would be to replace the towbar or get a higher rating on the Oka one.

Second, the GCM of an Oka is 7000kg. with a van grossing 4500kg that only leaves 2500kg for an Oka. Not near enough for any model Oka let alone a bus which would be 4500 kg empty. Add the two together and you have 9000kg+ any load in the Oka.
I think that the most you could expect with an upgrade to the GCM would be an additional 20%, which would give you 8400kg GCM.
To me it sounds like the van is just too big.

Ah, I think both Tony and I thought you were talking about an OKA van, not a caravan. A four-tonne caravan is a pretty big beast.

Now I'm not sure what I think I was thinking of - but still gets down to the GCM. Peter was getting his rerated recently so knows the procedure.

While I'm happy to tootle along in the OKA when it is 5.5 tonnes, I'm not sure I would like going up hills at 8 tonne unless the transfer case had synchromesh.

If the Van was a 5th Wheeler, it might work, but think it would be to heavy to tow with a towbar, if that makes sense.
