I have an Engine on a Pallet in Sydney. I cannot get it crated up and the freight companies I have tried so far will not take engine unless its crated.

Anyone got any clues for me?

Need to get it from Sydney to Darwin

Thanks.

New one on me that an engine needs to be crated. But it has been probably 15 years plus since I have had one shipped.

I would have thought that a well secured item on a pallet like using ratchet straps was enough but hings have changed, few weeks ago I couldn't get out of Boral bricks yard because the ratchet straps securing the brick pack had the rating tab missing so had to brake the pack flat on the trailer.

Joseph your ratchet strap would be an OHS issue as it the boral brick place loaded it, it would also fall back on them ,in the rigging side of my work no identification tag on any sling soft, wire or chain it has to be destroyed. it cost more to do testing than its worth.

I've had a few visits to Bunnings where they won't let people leave if it looks dodgy even if they didn't load it.
The steel place doesn't like people using Lebbo rope to secure loads either, the plumbers and leccy's have to get straps and rope out!

Thanks all.

Managed to find a company who will take it.

They tell it was picked up on Tuesday and should be here for Friday...... Plan is to run it up and see what condition it is in.

Next week will probably start to get the Perkins out. Then week after start on whats needed for the Cummins engine. One things for it will need A/C mounting bracket as it doesnt have one. It also has mechanical tacho drive. Not sure if I will use that with convertor or use pulse off the alternator.
