For those who still have Perkins in their Okas, has anyone changed the arrangement of the air condition compressor mount. I'm trying to work out if the compressor could be solidly mounted with an adjustable belt tensioner. There isn't a great deal of room and the alternator belt posses a bit of an obstacle.
Any thoughts welcome.

I saw one the other day with a aircond compressor mounted on the top left of engine, opposite side to alt.
next time I'm messing with aircond, I'll be mounting mine there.
that is ware I'm mounting it on the Cummins. plenty of room.

Thanks Brett, I'll check it out. It would require lengthening the hoses I guess.
My compressor has the rear mounting hole (which attaches next to the engine mount) has elongated to the point it may not last much longer.
I have purchased a new compressor.
I haven't been able to track down a universal receiver/drier which has the switch arrangement at the top and not to the side.
And if anyone knows or can read the max/min pressures of the pressure switch. I can't read mine as luck would have it as the sticker is on the body side.
Cheers
Peter

Peter I've only fiddled with a couple of Oka's, mine and one other but both had pretty bodgy aircon compressor mounts which as they were identical appear to be factory.
Having fitted aircon to a few vehicles over the years it is imperative that they line up and are also rigid as there is a big load to take care of.
The standard Oka mounts are a bit on the light side and the adjuster setup is a joke as it is really only on the front of the compressor where it makes the compressor want to twist. What should happen is that the adjuster should mount centrally off the compressor and place equal tension on both front and rear mounts. The other problem is that the mounts are not exactly the correct distance apart and need to be shimmed with washers to stop the compressor moving and this coupled with undersized bolts ends up with a sloppy fit which allows things to move and eventually flog out.
You can get the ears on the compressor welded up by someone who knows what they are doing. when fitting the new compressor make sure everything is snug and tight with no endfloat before you tighten things up, use washers and bolts that fit correctly. The mount on 374 was so out of line that it would snap HT bolts continually until I shimmed everything and fitted all new grade 10 bolts and HT washers.
Can't help with the pressures as mine has been painted.

Finally fixed one of the issues of the perkins. The air con mount. It is solid fixed with tensioner. Air con sits up a little higher and over to the chassis about an inch.

Peter, the adjustable pulley makes tensioning the belt easy (I have one on my air compressor) but without any positive locking method, my adjusting bolt unwound itself on last year's trek and allowed the loose belt to be flicked off and lost.
Worth ensuring there's a locking device on the adjusting bolt. (I drilled the adjusting bolt and inserted an "R" pin as a simple retainer).
