We all like greasable front axle universal joints, but non-greasable ones are approx 30% stronger due to the fact that the greasing hole is actually solid metal. My curiosity is... how many owners experience uni failure due to the weak point of lubrication tunnel/passage, how many experience uni failure due to non lubrication/dryness of the trunnion? All info is welcome.
Cheers,Joe

Joe for some reason we have one greaseable and one non-greaseable joint but we've had no failures of either yet in 100,000km (about half in 4wd). Maybe I should start taking a spare?

I have made no different experience with greasable/ non-greasable universal joints and assume greasable types would not fail/crack due to the holes in the material unless there is a flaw during manufacturing the joint.

No experience with breakages either way myself, and a little bit of Internet research basically said "don't buy cheap parts" and that Spicer make good parts; but this article, although not answering the question, was interesting.

That was a very interesting read about uni joints, lots of info, quite pertinant as I'm dropping both my tailshafts off to be modified to suit the Nissan transfer case.
