Hi,
I was looking at purchasing some eagle alloy's. The 058's have the appropriate backspacing of 4.5" , however I was looking at the 185's which are the same in all ways except with a backspacing of 4.25". Does anyone know if this will work ?
Many Thanks
Tim

From my experience that would be no problem Tim. Are you aiming for 16x8 or 16x10? I ask because 16x8 does limit your choice of load-carrying tyres somewhat.

Thanks Cando - Will have to have a look, maybe they have a replacement motor too - I just blew the head gaskit.
Re the wheels - I was thinking 16 x 8 with 315/75/16 as the tire choice. The next size up (325/80/16) are larger than the current 19.5 rims and go up significantly in price. I was looking at the interco tires which have the weight rating. Any other tire choices ?
Cheers
Tim

Hi Tim,
I have just gone through this exercise with 085 eagle alloys, Because your selecting the 8” rim you won’t be able to fit 315/75/16’s or the 325/80/16 as they are legally too wide for the rims, the maximum tyre size that an 8” rim will handle is the 285/75R16.
I fitted 285/75R16 to my Eagle alloys they are Goodyear Duratrack with a 126 load rating. The 285/75R16 are about 22mm lower than the 8.25X16 I had prior to replacement.
I only found two tires that would carry the load rating, Goodyear and Toyo both had reasonable pricing and delivery of a few days .They cost me $360.00 ea fitted in Townsville. Other tires like theMichelins were available but they were outside my price range.
The rims were purchased from Mr Wheel Deal in the states they cost US $ 389.00 for the set plus $ 288.00 air freight. Delivery time was 7 days. The 058 went straight on as they are predrilled to suit the 5/8” lug studs of the OKA.
I have since purchased an additional two rims and tires as spares.
Look closely and do your research, Most tire companies don’t know what an OKA is or the weight of the rig. I probably spent two weeks researching the project before committing to pruchase.
ADR rules state the tires and rims must exceed the maximum load carrying capacity of the axle.
Hope this helps.
Regards, Chris.

Thanks Chris
I Think I will revise my order to be 16x10 185's, quoted at $639 for 6. Additionally the wheel nuts are being supplied to suit the 5/8 thread.
Thanks
Tim
