Hi

Does anyone know someone that makes hubs to suit OKA wheels?

I have a trailer with14" holden wheels, I want the trailer as level as possible.

You can buy trailer hubs with large flanges in blank form and any engineering shop would be able to drill and fit the studs in the correct PCD (pitch circle diameter). I'vedone it at home but you have to be very precise.

Certainly Martins Trailer Parts in WA can supply the hubs - they are a fairly major supplier & manufacturer. We recently built a camper trailer using my own suspension specifications and components, including of course hubs that take the same wheels as the Oka - 8 on 6.5 stud pattern, no problem. Trailer Parts supplied the hubs as a finished product and the independant suspension arms, and modified the arms to suit my shocks, hydraulic bump stops and airbags.

David Hallandal in SA also built his own camper trailer, but went down the track of Oka-size springs and a beam axle; of course utilising the Oka wheels again.

On my own, most trailers I tow require a 10" drop hitch; which is a bit rare in Australia, it seems. I have a super-heavy original that gets down there OK, and a blingy USA-made aluminium one. But they get a regular trailer level. On the new camper trailer, the hitch only needed to be about 5" drop to have it be level, and such a hitch is readily available.
Another thing to keep in mind is that if you put 2 x 60kg wheels/tyres under a 500kg trailer, it won't behave as well as would be nice - unsprung weight vs sprung weight and all that techy stuff. More simply if your trailer isn't heavy enough, you will probably be better off with smaller wheels and a longer drop hitch.
