Mmmm does not time fly and soon the Oka gathering is upon us again yahoo
Does anyone have a suggestion for the 2019 Australia Day gathering ?????
I know it may be a little early to ask but some Oka owners need a little time to organize themselves with work and time off so don’t be shy show us you favorite place ( water to swim in would be nice )

We are camped at Mexican Hat in the Fowlers Bay Conservation Park right now.
Distances are +/-200km????
Half way between Melbourne and Perth - about 1700km from each.
900k west of Adelaide.
2000km west of Sydney.
2200km SW of Brisbane.
One long drop toilet. No other facilities.
Not many people come here and there would be plenty of camping space about 200m from where we are now.
Fishing, 4WD tracks along the coast, swimming.
Cheers,
Peter

How about where Peter and Sandra suggested, the Nymboida River where we had it I think in 2016. It was a great place and it's about time we made it a bit closer for the Cane Toads.

Sounds good, as Peter said it is about time to have another northern one so I'll join in for another vote for Nymboida.

So if we have a consensus and it is to be Nymboida I will volunteer to contact NPWS and let them know as they asked last time if we could advise them of any largish group attending. Mainly for safety reasons in case of bushfires etc, the rangers down at Geehi also asked us to advise them for the same reasons and I guess that is ok as ultimately it is their responsibility for the park. There is no cost for camping it is all free, access is definately 4wd, bring kayaks etc as the river is clear and clean, no need to bring water there is millions of gallons flowing past.
So will I go ahead and contact them?

Ok all set, I've been onto National Parks who thanked me for contacting them, they mainly like to know so that in an emergency like bushfire or heavy rain where people are and if they are likely to need supplies etc if they can't get out.
I told them that someone would probably be there from early in the week through to after the long weekend. I'm not sure at this point when we will be there but likely before the weekend.
The river has been running a banker the last week and they expected it to be right up to the bottom of the hill from the loo for those that have been there before.

We'll defenantly try to get there this year.
If that river is up near that toilet area that's one swollen river, didn't think we had that much rain?

The bottom of the track up to the loo, so right over that big grassy flat before you climb up to the higher level of the camping area and the loo. The ranger reckoned they had had about 120+ mm up there.
