Julie & I are now into our 2nd year of full time travel in our OKA.

We have kept an online blog since we commenced our 'On the road' lifestyle in 2017, the first few years in a Nissan Patrol & Tvan & now in an OKA. It's a well travelled vehicle - for those familiar with Ruedi & Susi, we are the second owners of their truck.

I enjoy reading accounts of other's travels & adventures & feel it might be good to have a thread here for anyone to share theirs.

Our travels are documented at www.cuppa500.com/Blog & I would like to post links to future posts that I write here if that seems acceptable to the community?

I do encourage anyone else to contribute to this thread either via links or directly. I feel it might help to keep this forum alive.

Cheers
Cuppa

Good for you, Cuppa, anything that keeps this forum alive is great, a real benefit for those of us who don't like the general 'social media' type platforms. It has been, and still is, the best site for technical information for those who look after their own vehicles. And congratulations on being able to set yourselves up for full time travel!
Cheers, Paul and Michaela

Thanks Paul, I’m an old hand at internet forums, but must confess to having also been sucked into Facebook in recent years. Two different things. Still prefer a flourishing & active forum to FB though.

As a long standing member of the fantastic AULRO forum I couldn’t agree more. Sadly, the space is becoming increasingly neglected. The AULRO forum still has a lot of active members. I have sometimes dreamt of this forum joining it.
Can’t blame a bloke for that.

AULRO... know it well. Funny, when we bought our Oka 14 years ago the vendor saw our Defender and said, "Yes, there is only one way to go after a Land Rover, that's the Oka"
Quite right too! Interesting thought about a Land Rover and Oka coalition on AULRO........
An injured right shoulder makes getting in and out of the Oka a bit dodgy, so we bought one of these new Ford Ranger Super Duty things to carry a slide on camper while waiting for the shoulder to heal. 800 kilos below GVM and the horrid thing bottomed out at the rear on the slightest ripple, and the back end let go on a slightly corrugated corner.
So we hoofed the camper off and threw it on the back of our 25 year old TD5 Defender farm hack, and it carries it with ease!
Sold the Super Dud (at a great loss) and bought another Land Rover........

We have been house-sitting in Broome for almost 4 months now & will soon be leaving. Our latest blog post describes our experience living in a town that we love & getting a couple of OKA things sorted out.
