Cuppa created the topic: Steering question.
Could any LT or NT owners (Or XT if they are the same) tell me how many complete turns of the steering wheel you get from lock to lock please.
I’m up against the steering ‘stops’ on both sides & feel that perhaps I should have a bit more. The steering box itself has appproximately 25% 30% more when the pitman arm is disconnected. The steering stops look like they are potentially adjustable but I’m not sure if there are pitfalls to consider if enabling additional articluation.

No idea of the number of turns, but I adjust the steering stops on the XT to just stop the tyres from rubbing anything.
Actually, one is missing at the moment and the tyre can rub on the inner guard. When it does, I stop turning
.
Cheers,
Peter

Ta. Have been sorting out the steering again best I can before takng it for a wheel alignment. Was looking at the amount of ‘turn' & thought it didn’t look enough, but just read in the LT manual that max turn from straight ahead is 30 degrees, which is what it looks like now, so I think I’ve pretty much done what I can. It’s definitely better than we had coming home!
Out of interest, on the XT how do you adjust the steering stops. On ours it looks like the only adjustment would be to remove metal off the stops themselves??

With a spanner.
Looks like yours is all the way in.
Mine stick out 30mm? and have a lock nut.
Cheers,
Peter

As Peter said ours are a bolt with locknut and can be easily adjusted. Just make sure that once they are adjusted to provide clearance on full lock in both directions as tyre profile can make a difference.
Suspension travel and vehicle attitude can also make the tyres rub off road even when you have them adjusted correctly for flat road driving.
Your diffs may not have adjustable stops as the NT's are different housings.

Ta. I think that is the case. Just an allen bolt holding on a shaped piece of steel.
