There are four Oka's in or around Alice at the moment, might be out of town while it is busy over the weekend though.

Bringing this in to the new forum, Liza & I spotted a red OKA fuelling up near Subiaco, WA last week with the registration EX 140 or EX 160 - but we didn't have time to stop for a good look. We'd be guessing it was from Exmouth, but I don't know of a red one there. Does anybody know it?

Spotted an OKA. Wednesday two weeks ago headed south at Glen Innes (NSW) we were headed north. GUESS WHAT OKA IT WAS. Our old OKA #147. Of all the OKAs to see on the road, we spotted our old OKA. Still looking good!!!!

Spotted 6T9T27WA171AAK154 - Matt and Cath Rogers' NT - in Perth today. They're on the road with the five kids doing the big lap, heading down south in a week and will be around the southwest for the next couple of months; unfortunately probably gone before the WA gathering occurs.

By the way, it's this vehicle in the sunset shot that is (currently at least) at the top of this page; recognisable in part because this very early NT had the round tanks like XTs and LTs, whereas later ones had the squarish tanks.

I posted this in July this year...

I know this is a poor effort without a pic, but the photo I took with my phone last night didn't work - sorry.

Not an OKA but I was amused to see a small white bus, like a HiAce or similar, at a Carnarvon fuel stop yesterday. It was built to the hilt with snorkel, spare on the bullbar, all the campervan accoutrements, but the thing that particularly grabbed me was the stickers on both front doors, just below the wing mirrors where we have ours - his said "MiniOKA".

Then today I found the photo... somehow...

Spotting an OKA is especially easy when they park straight out in front of home for a couple of days. We live in apartments that are part residential, part rental, and Dave Prater from Nannup is coincidentally in here for Christmas. That was a bonus because he's not a site member so although we knew of #021's existence in Nannup, we didn't have a name to go with it. I had a brief chat with him yesterday - he's a diesel mechanic by trade so knows a fair bit about the rights and wrongs of OKAs. He's had 021 for about 13 years.

That's an intercooler pipe over on the left under there - he has it working well - even accelerates up hills...

Fuel tanks were interesting - I'll post about them in the Fuel Tanks topic later on.

021 is still a working farm truck, but Dave does plan to keep it and re-skin it when the rust demands it.

Any chance of more pictures of intercooler install?? Apart from Intercooler, what else did he do to get more power out of the Perkins??

Intercooler is one thing I would like to add, seems a few have done it, but no real write up, apart from Tim`s.

I recall David saying that his engine is a bit different as it was an OKA factory experiment, still a Perkins
but can't remember if OKA put the inter cooler on as well.

Did not really spotted an Oka today, but.....
After a long day at work today, I was sitting in a chair on the beach reading a book, in front of my van. You know, I got the customary looks, and then a couple approached me.
They told me that 2 weeks ago at the Mammoth Cave (near Margaret River) they met a couple that were from Brisbane and were traveling in their OKA around Australia. That OKA was called "his and hers" or something like it. They could not remember the OKA owners' names either. The OKA had a high roof, and big tyres. For the rest their memory failed. Sorry, the couple were short on the kind of details OKA owners are renowned for. They were driving one of those Alpine Winnebago vans. I suppose that is a redeeming factor.
PS they had their Winnebago parked on the road.
Merry Christmas
hank

Garry & Chris in 306 and the Rogers family in the NT are both cruising the southwest at the moment, though neither fit the description quite right.

I'll encourage David with 021 to share intercooler details - I might not catch him again before he leaves.

I called in on Len and Rina the other day and had a good chat.
While I was in a waiting room today I was flicking through a 4WD Action magazine collector series and spotted this picture if I can upload it. The photo was taken in the Flinders Ranges.

This is Ian and Lee McVilly's XT OKA 141.

We camped with these guys for a night on their property near New Norfolk just north of Hobart in the Derwent valley. We then stayed for 3 more while we day-tripped into Hobart. Great hospitality.

141 is a very neat motorhome with a surprising amount of room inside easily enough for 2 people to pass each other.

Nice looking rig, that Oka of Ian and Lee's.

Several days ago I saw a QLD registered Oka passing through our home town of Bega. I had just parked mine around the corner, and my first thought was " Some bas%$#@ has pinched my Oka"

The I saw the label "Alsoka" and felt comforted! Al, are you on this site?

Cheers,

Paul
